Fun for Kids Light Transfer

Back to School DIY Pencil Pouch

The time has come to start gathering school supplies! Shopping for all those supplies can either be super fun or super exhausting (maybe both!). No matter how you feel about the experience, you can always make it that much better by adding your own personal touch! If you have kids going back to school soon, they’ll LOVE the idea of customizing their gear. Grace will be starting the 3rd grade this September, so we thought it would be fun to make her a unique pouch with the family dog, Buster, on it. Today we’ll go step by step to show you how to make her adorable pencil pouch. I’ve also included pictures of another pouch we made for Aaden – the fun font and cute animals (found on All Free Downloads)  were too good to leave out!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  1. Create your design. For Grace’s pencil pouch we used a photo of Buster! The image should take up about half a page of transfer paper – be sure to measure your pencil pouch and design accordingly.
  2. Using an inkjet printer, mirror your design and then print.
  3. Trim the edges so they’re more rounded.
  4. Transfer according to the directions in the package.
It’s okay if it hangs over the edge of the pencil pouch a little!

  5. All finished! Fill your pencil pouch up with lots of utensils and knick knacks to start the year off right.
